Jul 21, 2022. #9. SOLVED! The issue was a faulty harness. There is a rubber bellows between the tailgate and the chassis, where the tailgate hinges. In this you'll find the wires running to the lock mechanism and rear lights. Some of these wires were torn by use, from opening and closing the rear door.
